There is a great sense of release when you press that ‘upload’ button and watch your short film soar up to cyberspace to be viewed by anyone who cares to. When your film is new, an upload to the web can spell the end of your chances of a showing at most of the major festivals and it’s kissing goodbye to any hopes you might have been nursing for an Oscar. It is, however, frustrating to have only the work that nobody cares about representing you online. At the social events that film makers attend the standard question is “where can I see your work?”. For the first time I’ll be able to direct people to four of my shorts. My most successful effort “Whatever Turns You On” remains embroiled in rights issues for now but soon that, too, will be set free for the world to see. My latest short – Wedding Planners – premiered recently at the Underground Festival and has been shortlisted for Aesthetica. It makes up one of the four films on the new channel. You can see it right here:

On Monday I’ll be making my way to the Charlie Chaplin Film Festival in a remote corner of Kerry where I’m on the panel of judges. It’s shaping up to be a great festival. I’m looking forward to it…
